Sometime after 15-05-2022 13:15 and 21-December-2022, Virgin Media have unilaterally decided that it is going to stop users from creating additional email addresses, reason unknown.
Therefore, this information whilst recent and may have been right at the time is now incorrect.

Hello jonnie500, thanks for reaching out on our help forum about this issue.
We're sorry to hear you were unable to create a new email account with us, we'd love to help and advise on this issue.
From May 17th 2022, we have closed the ability for customers to sign-up and create new Virgin Media email accounts.
New customers are not able to create an email account at sign up, and existing customers are not able to make additional email accounts.
We will continue to provide support for already existing email accounts, which will remain open.
You'll find all relevant and updated info on this link here as well.
We hope this info is of help, please do let us know if you have more questions or concerns about the above.
Happy to assist further.

So does that mean that new people (sorry, I meant income stream) that sign up to Virgin Media do not get to have any EMail facilities provided by their (VM) ISP? I guess providing a Mail Server (um, cost) is an ancillary facility that VM want to do away with.

In short, yes. Along with BT and other ISPs VM no longer offer a free email service for their new broadband customers.
