This morning my virgin.net email on outlook will not synchronise and the error message says that it cannot connect to the server.
The first question I was going to ask was whether you are still a Virgin Media Broadband customer. Thankfully I checked your previous Forum posts and found that you recently used the Forum to raise an issue with your VM landline so I assume you are indeed a VM customer.😉
If I were you I would start by checking whether your virgin.net email account is still accessible if you sign in to it directly via the VM website. You can use this link: https://mail2.virginmedia.com/ Enter you email address and password and see what response you get back.
1) If that comes up with "We didn't recognise the username or password you entered." then the omens do not look good I'm afraid.
Do you know the sign in details for your "My Virgin Media" account - where you can view your VM bills and package details?
Try signing in to that from here https://my.virginmedia.com/home/signIn and then click on the "My Profile" tab and then the "Manage Accounts" tab and see if your virgin.net address is listed there.
If your old virgin.net email address does not appear anywhere on those pages then it was not linked to your current VM broadband account and it may well have been closed by VM as an "orphan" account. Here is a post which explains what "orphan" means in this context https://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Email/Orphan-Email-accounts/td-p/3492073
As a last resort you could try resetting the password as described in 2) below.
2) If the https://mail2.virginmedia.com/ link comes up with "Your mailbox is not available at the moment............." I would try resetting the password from here. https://my.virginmedia.com/forgot-details/password Enter your full virgin.net address as the Username and follow the prompts.
However, even if you are able to regain access to the virgin.net email account you are not out of the woods because, as I said earlier, unless that email account is linked to your current VM broadband account it could disappear at any time.
One of the Forum Team (VM employees who support the forum) should pick up your post and contact you via this thread. They can take a look at the status of your virgin.net email account and let you know what the options are.
I hope that all makes sense, I know it seems a bit complex. 😕
