Still waiting patiently to know what’s going on.
I've flagged the thread to the Team Lead so that they can take a look at what's going on here.
Edit - I'd avoid making any more posts until one of the Forum Team responds, but I will keep an eye on this.
Only use Helpful answer if your problems been solved.
Once again Tim thanks for your help.
To the forum team.
I fully understand that you have other problems apart from mine to deal with but I would really appreciate some feedback.
As per details in this thread I can receive mail on my main email address but I have to reply to these emails using one of my other back up email address’s.
As you can appreciate this is confusing for the sender and inconvenient to me.
I'm sorry we haven't got back to your PM sooner techifan, I will get back to you this evening & ensure feedback is passed on.
Thank you Tom,
I appreciate your reply and confirmation of the IT ref Number.
Just an update to the thread.
The good news is that I can now send and receive using my main email address.
Thanks to IT and all that contributed especially ravenstar68 and Tom.
Thanks for the update.
If you have any more issues you know where to come.
Can we ask IT to take another look at the account?
There appears to be a disconnect between the POP3/IMAP and SMTP passwords. I will share my evidence via PM but essentially
Techifan can receive mails but he can only send via smtp.ntlworld.com with authentication turned off. We have tried changing the password over at my.virginmedia.com BUT the result is the same.
We have done a test with SMTP authentication and we get the result:
535 5.7.8 Authentication Credentials Invalid (VM300)
However techifan did try using the settings
Which has lead me to this conclusion.
I should add that this is affecting ALL email addresses (Primary and secondary on his account).

Apologies Tim I did intend to update the thread as agreed but you have beaten me to it.
Although, having said that thank you for including all the detailed information.
Correction - 3 out of 9 email addresses are having this problem.
