Can't send emails

So suddenly yesterday I can't send emails but can still receive them.

Haven't changed any settings. Using Windows Live Mail. No problem when using the VM website.

Incoming = pop3.virginmedia.com Port 995

Outgoing = smtp.virginmedia.com Port 465

Both requiring SSL

If you really are using Windows Live Mail, then you should find something else as support for Live Mail was discontinued by Microsoft several years ago and it no longer gets any security updates.  If on the other hand you mean you are using the Windows built in Mail app, then that's another prospect altogether.

If you are using Windows 10 can you open a command Window and enter the following line:

curl -v smtps://smtp.virginmedia.com/ -u username:password 2>&1 | findstr "235 VM"

and let us know the result.  Remember to change username to your full email address and password to your email password e.g.

-u richardbranson@virginmedia.com:St14vTs3Z

Needless to say don't post the command itself, just the line that follows it.

Hi - Yes it is Windows Live Mail. Which email platform would you suggest (Outlook?).

I think I already tried your suggestion yesterday when I found this in another thread, and nothing came up.

I'll try again later when I het home.

Hi - Did this and nothing comes up, just another command prompt C:\WINDOWS\system32>

Try following the advice here to get your log files:

DO NOT post the full log on here.  Instead we're just looking for the line that shows the SMTP error - with a 5XX (VM3xx) code.

Hi Tim - Downloaded the log file.

Masses of info. Tried searching with CTRL F for 'SMTP' 'error' and 'VM3' and nothing comes up. 

There are however loads of 'Zone_MailChk ERROR' and 'Zone_Chk platformservice.cpp:364 ERROR'

Not sure if this helps?
