My blueyonder email works if accessed via webmail, but has stopped sending emails on my iPhone. I deleted the account, changed my password via webmail, then tried to readd the email account to my phone and although the password is there keeps telling me to “go to mail settings and enter a password”. I am IN mail settings when it tells me this. I’m desperate because my notes with all work appointments and dates and my to do lists are saved to the blueyonder account and I can’t access them via webmail.
I called virgin tech help, who were no help and just reset my password again (which I’d already tried). And proceeded to try and flog me a new contract with a SIM! What do I do??

VM have recently changed the log in requirements for accessing VM Mail via third party apps.
If you change the password for the account in My Virgin Media > Account settings > Account details you will not be able to use the new password to access the account via an email client. Email client access now requires an app specific password which can be generated in the MyVM > Account Settings > Account details > Mailbox App password management

Notes can be found in Notes folder in webmail as shown below but may not appear as intended:
It would be helpful to see what, if any, error code is returned by the SMTP server in this situation. From a desktop or laptop device open a Command Shell in Window or otherwise a Terminal. and enter the following where username:password is replaced with your email address and password, i.e. richard.branson@virginmedia.com:Y54kpX5g:
curl -v smtps://smtp.virginmedia.com -u username:password
Do not post the resulting output here but instead review it for possible reported causes, i.e. VM error code; choosing to ignore this advice and posting the output here unredacted or incorrectly redacted may reveal your email address, password and / or public IP Address.
FYI if there is no issue then you should see the following output from the curl command:
⋮

Can you help me?? Because virgin media team are beyond hopeless and unskilled and can’t help. I think IMAP settings have corrupted on my iPhone and I’m not at all technical and despite following various instructions - it’s still saying “no password provided”

Yes. Same with my virgin supported blueyonder email. Virgin media team on phone are beyond hopeless and can’t even understand what the issue is. Have twice told me there’s a fault which will be corrected in 24-48 hours. Each 48 hours or more later, same answer. They need to employ IT specialists not call centre operators

Can access Blueyonder on webmail but not on I pad or I phone. Have reset password, Does not recognise it and contacted VM, They said it is not their problem and Blueyonder account is working.

Hi magmcm,
Thanks for reaching back out, have you tried resetting up the email on your iPad using our Email Settings?
Regards
Paul.
