Blueyonder email not working

I've been using my Blueyonder email account for a number of years but suddenly I cannot send email from my mobile devices (iPhone and Samsung tablet).

Receiving email is OK and sending from my laptop is OK.

The error message says 'Cannot Send Mail' and tells me that 'The username or password' is incorrect.

I've checked all settings and they are correct and I've checked username and password which are also correct.

My wife has got the same problems with her Blueyonder account so it looks like a problem at Virgin's end.

Does anyone have a proven fix for this???

When you say "sending from my laptop is OK" are you referring to the Virgin Media Webmail service which you can get to from here https://mail2.virginmedia.com/  ? Sending emails directly from Webmail uses a different process to sending them from an email app.

If you can send from Webmail but not via an email app  it could be because your home IP address has been blacklisted. You can check that by following this:

1) You can find your public IP address here https://www.whatismyip.com/ it will be in the format 8n.nn.nn,nnn

2) Then paste or type that sequence here https://www.spamhaus.org/lookup/  and see if it is on the SBL line? Do not worry if it is on the PBL or XBL lines - that is not a problem.

If your IP address is blacklisted by Spamhaus it will be because you have something called a SpamBot somewhere on your home network sending spam emails. Probably lots and lots of them!

This will not be sending emails via your email app or any other email software you may have installed and it could be located on any device attached to your home network so you will not be aware of what is happening.

Getting your IP address delisted is pointless because Spamhaus is dynamic and as soon as the Spambot starts sending more spam your iP will be  blacklisted again straight away.

The only solution is to find and remove the Spambot.  The following post takes you through that process and gives you more details as to how Spambots work.

https://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Security-matters/Searching-for-Spambots-on-your-network/td-p/40....

If your IP address is not shown on the SBL line then we are looking at a different cause for the problem you are seeing.
