Anyone emailing me gets bounce back 550 5.7.1 message

I have a domain registered with a hosting company that let's me redirect my email to my virginmedia email address. It's been working for several years then suddenly last week anyone trying to email me gets a bounce back with message:

550 5.7.1 <my email address>... Relaying denied: You must check for new mail before sending mail.

I haven't touched a thing , honest

As a test I redirected the email from the domain to a gmail account and it works fine.

Could something have changed at virginmedia recently? Any ideas how to fix please?

Thanks for all help

What support have your hosting company offered you?  Relaying is getting more problematic as companies tighten procedures in an attempt to reduce spam.

f I were seeing that I'd be speaking to whoever looks after my domain.

That error message looks like a server that's been configured to use POP before SMTP.  It's not

Re: Anyone emailing me gets bounce back 550 5.7.1 message

I think the hosting outfit are flaky. They are in US. I called them and they couldnt see any forwarding at their end and 'turned something on'. Their control panel looks different from last time I used it so maybe they have had a revamp.

Interesting forwarding to gmail worked but not to virgin but I dont have time to faff around so will probably leave it like that.

Thanks for your help

Are you able to let us see a copy of a FULL bounce message (although remove the leading part of any email addresses)?

Chris

Are you able to forward the bounce mail to me if I PM you my email address?
