Hello, This seems to be a trend. I left Virgin Media a few years ago but my ntlworld email address has remained active. I know this because I have the account synced with my gmail and still receive emails. Recently the email address was hacked and they somehow managed to gain access to my Facebook account. 

Please can the old email address be properly deactivated?
