Webmail Virgin <email@example.com> has sent me an email saying 16 messages have been prevented from being delivered to my inbox, and to click on a link to release them.
It sounds dodgy, and the email address seems very odd.

It sounds dodgy
that's because it is. It is a classic scam. Delete the email.
I haven't clicked on it, as it looked suspect. I'll delete the email.
Thanks very much for your help.
