Since a clearlyfake call this morning from some-one claiming to be from BT Open Reach saying my internet was very slow, I've been inundated with irate calls from people who thought I'd called them.
Seems the phishers have switched from the **-8720 number they'd faked to mine.
( Nice to be appreciated for all the time I'd cost them...)
Yes, same guy, same background noises, same accent, same phony spiel.
Oh, and there's phishing e-mails flying about, too...
Yep! This is a new tactic being used by the scammers. Some providers are now blocking calls from the obviously fake numbers, so scammers are now using ones from real business & residential customers instead. If you start getting your outgoing calls blocked by other providers, you will know why.
