To be fair it was only my road that was going off for the day, whilst they replaced a main cable apparently. Don't know why the guys in the street didn't just knock on the door.

Some guy in a Hi-Viz vest knocks on your door. [true story] All right mate... we're just doing some work...

Next minute, they're  in the house (there were 3 in this case) demanding £3k and a trip to the cash machine. An argument then ensued and I had to call the police to get rid of them as my mother had let them in...
