Old Cheque

Hi, i was wondering how i go about getting a fresh cheque sent out to me as i received a cheque but hadn’t yet cashed it in.

I have a current Virgin Media account but the cheque was for an old account.

Many thanks

Re: Old Cheque

The old one is nearly 4 years old and the bank said they couldn’t cash it.

Re: Old Cheque

As far as I’m aware old cheques that haven’t been cashed are still valid.

Re: Old Cheque

not if they over a certain date from the date on the cheque.

the point being made was that you might struggle to get someone to issue a new cheque from 4 years ago.
did you find it at the back of a drawer?

"How long are cheques valid for? We reserve the right not to pay a cheque that is older than 6 months (from the date written on the front of the cheque). If you have a cheque dated 6 months or more ago it may not clear and you should contact the issuer of that cheque and ask for a replacement"

Re: Old Cheque

Virgin would need to check and confirm it hasn't been cashed.

I've worked for a few companies that issued cheques and it's general banking practice to reject cheques if over 6 months old.
