Notice of leaving Virgin

Bazbazzler
On our wavelength

I gave Virgin notice today and was then put through to retentions without my knowledge. I realise they're under pressure but I immediately felt like I was being pressured into buying an 80's timeshare. I explained I'd been given my notice so would like to go to be told 'you can't leave until you've spoken to me'. Wow. After a bit of trying to make me me feel I was stupid for leaving I was offered an amazing new price. Around 48% off but my conscience  couldn't let me make a deal. I had to walk away even though in truth it would have been easier and more convenient to stay. After 19 years with VM they it all ended in a messy divorce. If they'd had stared with "can you just answer a few quick questions please" it would never have happened.

There does seem to be a regular flow of topics from 20+ year customers who have had enough of VM and its business/sales practices and decided to leave.

Some of the chat logs of similar sales talk which have popped up on the forums recently have been similarly cringe-worthy.

A company offers a huge reduction in its price in an effort to keep a customer and you say it's cringe-worthy. I say it makes good business sense.

Nope, I said the sales talk in some recent chat logs was cringe-worthy. And the 48% off clearly wasn't adequate compensation for Bazbazzler after being told 'You can't leave until you've spoken to me' which has turned out to be very poor business sense to speak to this particular customer in that way because the customer has now left!
