My fix for the 100% packet loss.

I’ve been having 100% packet loss & several engineers later it is still happening.
BQM is showing this but Speedtest.net & other apps/websites show 0% packet loss.
I decided to change some settings to see what would happen & here’s the results.

Under Advanced Settings>Security>Firewall I removed the tick from port scan detection & IP flood detection - no change.
I deselected Firewall & the 100% packet loss disappeared.
Left this for two days & it did not return. I selected Firewall again & yes the problem returned a few hours later. Deselected it again & immediately the 100% packet loss disappeared.
The Firewall being on is the problem. There must be something with this which BQM doesn’t like or it cannot ping the hub with this setting on.

The firewall must be blocking ICMP messages, these are what is commonly known as ping, and these are what are used for a BQM. I thought there was a setting on the hubs to allow ICMP messages through, I cannot confirm as I have always run in modem mode.

Yes some BQM mentions that but the setting is not there.

If I remember correctly the ICMP setting option was available in the Superhubs, but isn't there in the Hub 3.  However, the BQM for my connection works fine for me with the Firewall set to on using a Hub3 in router mode.  @Anankha What VM router version are you using?

Hub 3 in router mode. I cannot afford to purchase a separate router.

The Hub3 works fine with the firewall on.  I have been using one for several years now without any issues with the BQM reports.

Glad that it works for you @Graham_A but it doesn’t work in my case. I’ve tested this & it is the conclusion I have reached.
If anyone has another solution I’m happy to hear it.

If you can find a spare £27, Tenda have a good deal on the first wireless router below - or for better wifi (MU-MIMO) see the second at £36.50 - both should sort the issues straight off

I do not work for VM. My services: HD TV on VIP (+ Sky Sports & Movies & BT sport), x3 V6 boxes (1 wired, 1 WiFi, 1 on PA) Hub5 in modem mode with Apple Airport Extreme Router +2 Airport Express's. On 250Mbps, Talk Anytime Phone, x2 Mobile SIM only iPhones.

I thought the ICMP for like BQM and firewall check box oddness was fixed? so what disable useless firewall check box allow BQM but blocks port forwarding again?
