Getting an actual engineer

It's a bit like finding a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow..then they try and not give you new equipment..

I see from your other post you have an engineer.

If there’s a hub problem you’ll be issued with whatever replacement hub the engineer has on stock in his van.

You rent your equipment from VM, it is never guaranteed to be new. What is guaranteed is that it works, if not you report the fault and get it replaced.
