Elm Parl/Leander Road SW2

For months and months the noise coming from a manhole belonging to Virgin has been causing a great deal of noise.  It is on the corner of Elm Park and Leander Road SW2.  This has been reported to Lambeth Council who say it is a Virgin responsibility and that Virgin have ignored it.

This was reported originally well before lockdown so it is a long standing problem.  Any chance of you fixing it?  I ask because although a 20 mph street - drivers often take this corner at great speed.  It is a nuisance noise and an eyesore.

Lambeth Council say Virgin are ignoring this.  Could it be dealt with please?  It keeps people awake at night as the noise is startling.

has it been reported to then? if it hasn't then they can't ignore something they don't know about.

Re: Elm Parl/Leander Road SW2

H ivickilawrence,

Thanks for your post and welcome to our community 🙂

I'm sorry if this has been previously reported, I'm not able to confirm if it has been but I'm happy to raise this for you now.

Passed the details you've provided over to the team who'd deal with this to take a look.

Many thanks,

Alex_Rm

Re: Elm Parl/Leander Road SW2

Hi vickilawrence,

I've had an update from the team, apparently there are various boxes along this road, can you please advise the house number closest to the one making the noise?

Thankyou,

Re: Elm Parl/Leander Road SW2

It would appear to be a badly fitting manhole cover, not a box

Re: Elm Parl/Leander Road SW2

If it's the manhole on the junction of those two roads it doesn't look as if it belongs to VM. Also VM usually has pavement covers. A photo would help.

Re: Elm Parl/Leander Road SW2

Hi get back to the counci, it sounds more like a water or gas manhole, as someone has said virgin have small pavement rubber covers, sounds like someone lazy at the council has just tried to pass the buck. Regards Micky.

Re: Elm Parl/Leander Road SW2

i agree, virgin "manhole" covers are generally on the pavement, not on the roads.
that includes the small square T-boxed and the larger rectanguler access manhole covers.

Re: Elm Parl/Leander Road SW2

Whichever utility company it belongs to the inspection chamber cover appears to be loose even in the street view shot which seems to be dated from March 2019.
