Bad Line?

Firstly how annoying to HAVE to select a board without "other" there, so I've just had to choose Community natter? Secondly  when a call comes from Virgin media why is the line so dreadfully appalling ?  It's rather ironic. considering the nature of the company?  I had a call today at 11.30  the usual how are you? are you having a nice day?  scripted spiel yadda yadda that is often delivered by  Virgin agents calling from overseas. The line was absolutely awful, as it usually is from Virgin agents which makes having a decent conversation or doing business impossible, I certainly wouldn't change anything or do anything over such a bad  phone line , so I said I was okay but didn't really like doing business over the phone but for her to carry on with what she'd phoned for, and she promptly hung up?  Bad lines and poor agent behaviour is not a good look?

It may not have been VM. There are lots of spam calls now, not just with VM but numerous other companies where the spammers have spoofed genuine numbers.

I had a call earlier today (Indian accent) which was supposed to be from VM. When I traced the number via google it showed it originated from Oslo. I also received a call a few minutes later from the same number regarding Sky.

Yesterday I received a phone call, alllegedly from O2. Whilst I was listening to the spiel from the non UK agent I received a  text message allegedly from O2 with a one time "security code" to protect my O2 account - I was supposed to enter the code to protect my account.

Hi, no I get that, but this is a genuine VM number used for marketing purposes, but not only is it rather comical that the lines are often horrendous but like i said she just hung up when i said i didn't like doing business this way, hadn't even finished what i was saying, it's not the first time this has happened and they've called since a few days running but when i answer nobody speaks, so its probably one of these, whoever answers first things, so I've but I've now blocked the number, a decent company would have better manners.

"but this is a genuine VM number used for marketing purposes" how do you know it’s a call from VM. It might be a genuine number, but caller ID is very easy to spoof and these people use genuine numbers.

Because if it says it's virgin media  when checking the number online, and they say they are Virgin media when answering, you have to take it that it's a possibility that it is VM, if someone is spoofing VM number then the company need to do something about it otherwise how are customers meant to know ??? I am getting called right left and centre now , I check every number coming in on google and it says it's VM sales, i block it, and a few days later get a call from a similar number, again check online and it says its VM sales and again I block, and this goes on and on, so yes it's extremely annoying, unless i ring in myself, i would not answer any of the incoming calls now because I don't know if it's real VM or spoof using their numbers.
