Installation and activation fees

Hello all,

I have today spoken to customer services with regards to upgrading my current package to now accommodate my new smart 4k tv and i was not impressed with being told I would have to pay a £99.95 installation fee along with a £14.99 activation fee to do this! I thought there would be some loyalty credit in there after being a customer for over 7 years but it would seem not.
I'm more than happy with the monthly increase i would have to upgrade but not these extra costs upfront. 
I will be sad to leave virgin media as i have never had any problems with them but it would seem other providers do offer similar/same packages for much less.

Has anyone else had this problem with these fees before?

I assume you're on the Full House 100 package?

If so, then the pricing sounds correct:

If you've never rung in to renegotiate your package price then it's likely you're paying over the odds and could get a reduced monthly rate by switching. This may well offset the cost of the box and then some.
