Noisy line; phantom 999 calls

I had the police calling me several times last night. Apparently my landline has been dialling 999. The line was almost unusably noisy.

Customer services are sending an engineer out on Tuesday, and I have disconnected the phone. However, I am concerned that the noisy line is still going to be dialling 999, though.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Re: Noisy line; phantom 999 calls

Hi there slatermethuen,

Firstly I'd like to welcome you to the forums and say that I'm really sorry to hear that you've been experiencing this issue, especially as it got the police involved.

I have heard of this issue before, even though it's quite rare, basically the noise on the line makes the switch believe you are attempting to dial out, though as it's repeatedly getting an incorrect number, the emergency services are notified in case it is a genuine emergency.

I'm glad that you've been able to sort something out, please let us know how this all goes for you.

Apologies once again.

Huw
