Hi all, I have a Sony Xperia Z3 compact and a Virgin mobile contract. Generally my data usage is between 400mg and 500mb per month and all of a sudden my data usage has soared to 2gb in the last 10 days. I think this has occurred since the phone's software was undated from Lollipop to Marshmallow. Also my battery is draining faster than before and at times the phone is hot to touch. Is anybody else having these issues and is there anything I can do to resolve my data problem? I'm not that techy but need to sort this out, so please don't be too technical, please use simple language ...

Sorry to hear that the data usage has risen on your phone. I want to get this all sorted for you.


There are several possible solutions to make sure this doesn't happen again. Sony have a specific support page for this here.


I would suggest following the restrict background data option for apps. This will ensure that no app uses mobile data when it's running in the background.
