You Tube App

Is there anyway to either lock or remove the You Tube App?

I need to stop my child from using this.

I have tried going to the lock app section, but it does not list You Tube.

Any ideas?  Please

Re: You Tube App

Hi sunshineyellow

Welcome to the Community, sorry to hear about the inconvenience you've experienced lately. There are parental controls available in the YouTube app itself via the Restricted Mode.

You can find out all about Parental Control on YouTube here

Specific information about Restricted Mode is here

I hope this helps

Re: You Tube App

It may, or may not, be possible to block YouTube on the Virgin V6 or Tivo TV boxes. See here for the VM provided advice:

From the provided link above......

Selecting Lock Apps & Games should give you a list of Apps which can be Blocked, Locked or Unlocked: Hopefully YouTube will be shown there and can be configured as you wish.

Under the YouTube link:

When you open YouTube for the first time the Restricted Mode will be set to Enabled. This will hide content you might prefer not to be shown during a search.

To reset this:

  1. Select Settings from the menu
  2. Select Restricted Mode
  3. Choose Disabled

It's not clear what happens if you have previously opened YouTube and wish to make subsequent changes.

I find it hard to believe that VM would not provide adequate Parental Controls, on equipment provided by themselves and which is being installed in family households. It's probably just a case of finding out where these controls are.
