Sound and internet problems

Installed yesterday after a 6 month wait. Was very excited but so far not impressed! Virgin had not informed BT of my 3rd rescheduled date so my number not transferred so I'm paying for 2 phone lines. Internet access upstairs is shocking - kids having to use their data allowance on mobile devices and no sound on YouTube app on downstairs Tivo box but fine on upstairs one! Lost signal on my digital tvs upstairs but have sorted that myself I think. One of the empty cardboard boxes left for me to dispose of has 'faulty?' written on it. Any help on sound or internet issues gratefully received.
