Accessing VPN on NAS

Hi,

I'm blind and using screenreading software. I've had a lot of issues accessing the Super Hub 3 settings but I've managed to change the settings I believe need to be changed. There are many posts on here about VPN's but no clear answers.

I've installed a VPN package on my Synology NAS which is a wireless hard drive on my local area network.
I would like to be able to log into the VPN from my local area network at home. I am using Windows 7 and when I connect to it on there, I can view it in the connection list on my NAS drive.

However, I am unable to access the internet. I am using L2TP/IPSec. I have gone to port forwarding on the super hub 3 and allowed UDP ports 1701 and 4500. It says port 500 is already enabled when I input that.

Any help would be appreciated.
