Hi I can confirm that we've started sending out the Froyo update as of 9am this morning, however this is only for customers on our Virgin specific firmware (1.23.351.1). Customers on the original firmware (1.15.405.4) will need an update to the 1.23.351.1 firmware first before they can install the Froyo update, but we expect this should be available in the next few days. I'll post another update here once it goes live.
This is an FOTA (Firmware Over The Air) update which means that you will be prompted to download the update on their handset. We strongly recommend that you use a Wi-Fi connection to download the update. You'll be asked if you want to back up your handset first, and we recommend this as well.
The Android 2.2 update include
If you don't want to wait for the update to be pushed to you you can use the following menu to check for an update, Menu > Settings > About Phone > System Software Updates > Check Now.
Thanks

We're still working with HTC to upgrade any remaining HTC Desire users to Android 2.2.
If you're still having issues with this and a manual search for the
update hasn't worked you should note down the phones IMEI number and
give us a call on 789 from your mobile or 0845 6000 789 from any other
phone. We still have a few other things we can try to get your phone
updated for you.
For users who are seeing issues with Android 2.2. on their HTC Desire such as the following:
Email randomly deleting
Email service has stopped working
Applications crashing
Phones rebooting randomly
Phone screen stops responding
We've
found that a simple factory reset solves these problems in 90% of the
time. Please remember to back up all your data before a factory reset as
this will restore the phone to when you first recieved it deleting any
downloaded applications, text, photos etc. If you're still having issues
after you've done a factory reset then once again give us a call and
we'll see what we can do to help.
Thanks
