Hello,

Welcome to the Virgin Media Community.

This is your space. Chat with other Virgin Media customers and staff about our products and services, look for answers and advice on how make the most out of your kit. From absolute beginners, to some of the best tech minds in the land, our community knows that the digital world can change pretty damn fast, so join the conversation and help us keep up.

If you’d like to get to grips with the basics before you jump in, here’s a simple guide that covers all you really need to know about the community...

Where am I?

First, you’ll want to find the right board, the one that best fits the subject that you want to talk about. You can always see a full list of our boards on the community homepage.

Just click on the board’s name and you’ll open up that category. At the top, you’ll find the latest announcements and the most active conversations; it’s these threads that often contain the most recent topics and support.

How Do I Post?

Starting a new thread:

Click the “New Message” button [top-left]

Bravo! You’ll now see the screen’s set up for you to compose your message.

1. In the Subject field, type a title that best describes your question. Try to avoid vague titles like “Help!” etc.

2. In the Body field, ask your question. Our community love information so pop in anything you think could help.

3. Once you’re happy, hit Post. Now, pop the kettle on.

Getting Personal:

As you get going you might like to personalise your posts. It’s simple enough to do.

1. Here are a few tools for you to personalise your post by changing the font, colour and size, You can also find a button to include an image in your post.

2. Any time you like, you can see what your post will look like by clicking the Preview tab.

3. You can use the Spell Check button as a final step to make sure your ABCs are 123.

Replying to a thread:

If you’re in a hurry, hit Quick Reply. This will pop open a fresh text box (a bit like Facebook). Here you can type in a response in seconds. When you’re ready, hit Post – that’s it.

For longer replies use the Reply button. The screen will look pretty much the same as the New Message one did but the subject line will be filled in for you already and you can use the Quote Message button to paste the message to which you are replying into the body of your reply.

Safety First: Remember, everything posted on the community is public. It’s important not to post any contact details including telephone numbers, addresses, or account numbers. If we need this information, we’ll ask for it in a Private Message, which is a little bit like a Facebook private message or a twitter Direct Message. These are completely confidential and you can find them by clicking on the small envelope to the top right hand of any screen.

Who responds?

Customers just like you! We have a community of super smart users who do a fantastic job on hand to answer your post. If you’re lucky they might be able to answer your question right away, or if you have a tricky issue they’ll help you provide as much information as possible so we can work out what needs to be done.

Every so often our Forum Team may respond if things get particularly complicated. The team will do their best to help and if needed they’ll do some bits and pieces behind the scenes.

Sometimes replies can take some thought, so don’t worry if you haven’t got an answer right away, it can take some time to get the right people for the job.

Helpful Answers:
Hurrah! One of our wonderful community members has given you a reply with an answer that solves your problem.  Let them know they’ve helped and at the same time make it easy for the rest of the community to find that helpful answer by clicking on the “Mark as Helpful Answer” button.
