Warhammer Online

Warhammer online has been unplayable recently.  I'm aware WOW is the more popular game but are there any assurances that other games effected by the recent service changes will be getting their 'fixes' as WOW performance seems to of improved judging by recent forums activity.

I've been cable since the days of Cable + Wireless and the only thing stopping us changing provider was that the internet has always been faultless.  (plus the hassle of replacing 3 TV boxes + getting a BT phone line sorted)

I'm on the 20mb line and its a hard to take, knowing my mate on his 8mb talk talk connection is having no issues whatsoever (same game + server) for a cheaper price.

I've spoken to support and his constant mentioning of WOW gave me little confidence that less popular games are going to get sorted anytime soon.

Support guy said he spoke to his supervisor and I can expect a fix in 7-9 days.  Not holding by breath but will give VM a chance.

Re: Warhammer Online

I also play Warhammer, and since last Tuesday gaming from 4pm-11pm is impossible. VM please recognise WoW isn't the only online game in the world, and your tech support at 150 are useless, literally useless.

If we can't get a Virgin rep saying "Yes we recognise there is a problem right now with online gaming, it will be fixed by such and such date" then I'm afraid I will take the route of getting a BT line installed. I don't want to be hasty, but as long as VM aren't accepting the fault isn't my end, then I feel I have no other choice.

Oh and please don't use the high utilisation excuse, my exchange only caters for 8k people, a friend in Prestons' exchange caters for 17k and he has no issues with Warhammer (he's with O2)

Re: Warhammer Online

We're still looking into all the reports of poor performance with various games that people have flagged up to us over the past few weeks. If you could give us some more information that would help us narrow down the possible causes of this. Could anyone who's having latency/poor performance issues with Warhammer Online  post the following information:

Time of the Problem:
Pathping to Warhammer Online servers:
Trace route to the Warhammer Online servers:
Summary of the problem you're seeing:
What you're doing in the game when the problem occurs:

These problems can be caused by a wide range of issues, a traffic management issue, having high utilisation in your local area and routing problems outside our network to name a few. If you can give us that information I'll pass it along to the network and traffic management teams so they can investigate.

Thanks

Re: Warhammer Online

[ Edited ]

Time of the Problem: Evening, come midnight all is well again.

Pathping to Warhammer Online servers: Unlike WOW, this isn't possible as far as i'm aware.

Trace route to the Warhammer Online servers: As above

Summary of the problem you're seeing: I'm not disconnecting.  Usually connection issues result in lag and being booted to the character select screen 30 seconds later.  Now i'm not getting disconnected, the game doesn't boot me from the server, other players vanish and i'm free to run around the world on myself before the connection kicks in again and I reappear back where I was before the freeze hit, 99% of the time dead as I'm sure on other players screens I'm just standing there like a lemon.  The longest 'lag spike' I had was over 7 minutes in a serpents passage scenario. 7 bloody minutes.

What's happening isn't normal lag/disconnects.

What you're doing in the game when the problem occurs: What i'm doing at the time is irrelevent.  Be it scenarios, Orvr or just browsing the auction house the lag is constant.

Also I failed to point out that during this time, I can browse the web, youtube etc... without issues.  Posts are now appearing on the offical forums, blaming EA Mythic before people realised that VM is their ISP.

Re: Warhammer Online

Exactly the same as above.

Time of the Problem: 4pm - midnight.

Pathping to Warhammer Online servers: Unlike WOW, this isn't possible as far as i'm aware.

Trace route to the Warhammer Online servers: As above

Summary of the problem you're seeing: In all levels on all servers, I get  10-20 second long freezes, with abuot 5 second game time in between. When I freeze after 10 seconds everyone around me disappears, and I can walk around fine, then suddenly it all catches up with itself in superspeed.

What you're doing in the game when the problem occurs: Anything at all, it happens as soon as I log in. I could be stood in an empty area, in an instance, in a scenario, and it happens everywhere.

As above, when my game is lagging, my internet speeds are absolutely fine. I called 150 to see if I'm being throttled, and after being hung up on (please PLEASE fix your tech support) they told me I'm not, and there are no problems in my area, sometimes they blame high utilisation.

Games flag as P2P due to uploading and downloading the data, has Virgin accidentally patched and broken how online games are recognised, resulting in many people not being able to game?

Re: Warhammer Online

Hi im having the same problem aswell but im unable to do the tracert etc because im at work.

I just wanted to say that you CAN tracert warhammer online servers, But i cant find it out at the moment but i will tell you how to do it.

On Windows 7/Vista go to start, Type Resource Monitor. Click the down arrow on Network and you will see War.exe is in that list, The IP should be next to that.

Also a note, I was on the US servers untill a couple of days ago and the lag over there is ALOT waste than in the EU, I can tell you that IP for the US server (63.117.24.98) but cant find out the EU one at the moment.

I will however tell you as much as i can.

Time of problem: From 5PM > I stop playing at around 11PM

Summary of problem: When playing all the characters on the screen will freeze and my character can still run around but then after about 10-20 seconds everything will catch up.

What you're doing: Can be anything, But it makes it worse if there is alot of fighting.
