Sky sees VM as direct competition, so don't expect much more than you already have. Re: Unable to Block Apps on Tivo Box The app was only release to TiVO V6 last month, so updates may be forthcoming. There are apparently parental controls within the app. However, Ratuken advise you have to create an account in order to use them, and they will then be applied to any other TV boxes & SMART TVs with the app installed. https://help.rakuten.tv/hc/en-gb/articles/203272261-How-to-change-the-Parental-Control-Settings Re: Mis-sold TV and broadband Door to door sales only visit new FTTP network build areas. These areas do not support the recordable TV boxes, as these only work on the legacy copper coaxial cable TV networks. Just as with Virgin, Sky have now removed the SkyQ box from front line sales, as the Sky Stream box now accounts for more than 70% of new customer business. The new switching service only includes Broadband & fixed line phone services. It also looks like the answer the salesman gave you deserved more investigation. I specifically asked if this covered all our services, Broadband, Talk and Mobile and he said that , yes, as far as he knew it did. Re: Pin removal It is due to an OFCOM ruling (Mandatory Daytime Protection) that allows broadcasters to transmit adult content outside of the "Watershed" hours providing that PIN protection cannot be removed. Re: Can I use a second hand V6 box myself VM is a closed system, so the boxes are rented & should be returned at the end of the contract. You would do well to ignore any that are being “sold” on websites, as these people are scammers. These are either stolen goods that have not been returned, or obsolete/faulty boxes that VM has asked customers to dispose of in recycling. In either case VM removes the serial numbers from the system so that they cannot be re-activated. If you buy one of these all you are buying a very expensive door stop, & giving the seller your hard earned cash for something that will never work. Don’t bother. Re: Loss of connection at same time every day Could be an incoming noise problem on the network, but things like this are difficult to trace. Re: Yale Smart Alarm not working Bear in mind currently the Hub5x does not have an operable modem mode. Re: wireless? Any kit you connect to the V6 HDMI output must be HDCP 2.2 compliant, or the content protection handshake will not get to the TV at the other end, resulting in the picture remaining encrypted. Re: BOXED IN Dorsetdave wrote: Would Virgin charge this fee if I was a new customer? Yes, they would. They are charging the fee to all customers wanting V360 boxes now, as it requires a separate coaxial connection to VMs network, & therefore a technician visit. Stream boxes can just be sent out in the post. Re: House extension, new coax bajanelite123 wrote: I'm having one in every room so I can change the room layouts at a later date and not be a hassle, not every room will have a TV in it. Sounds like my first option, installing it myself, is the easiest. If you think installing VM coax is as simple as installing a TV antenna distribution system, think again. VM re-uses radio spectrum that is used outside it's cables, hence any ingress of these signals will cause noise that could affect the entire network segment if it gets back to the street cabinet. VM uses it's own spec coax. Ignore all those claiming to sell it, or having "approval" from VM. They don't. Also, as VM operates a "closed" network where only their own kit is issued, they have a right to refuse to connect anything that is non-standard, or that would be detrimental to service performance of your own or your neighbours connections.
