This is as good as you can ever expect to achieve with your VM connection. to get better would mean moving to FTTP fibre. Re: 1gig, hub 5, unusable for online gaming, packet loss and latency issues im guessing BT's ONT uses about the same power. It a shame these can't just simply be powered by the ethernet that connects into the router, saves a plug. Re: 1gig, hub 5, unusable for online gaming, packet loss and latency issues Surprised no one from VM has jumped on this thread or DM’s you yet. Re: 1gig, hub 5, unusable for online gaming, packet loss and latency issues Im sure they will get in touch soon on this forum and arrange an engineer to come out and tinker around. But it may end up being a case of a slight improvement only. Most likely yet another case of: 1) Get used to it (the latency that is, VM should fix the packet loss as that's unacceptable) 2) Leave and switch providers (ideally FTTP if you can) Re: Experiencing high ping spikeshaha it probably would explode, can't wait for my hub 4 to be gone, the fan in it runs even in modem mode, it's faint but it adds a buzz to the room, why is the fan on and the thing so damn hot even in modem mode? My Asus gaming router is 10x as powerful and doesn't even have any fans.Re: Experiencing high ping spikesTrue. My friend used to be a 'heavy user' in his last house. VM sent a letter to him asking him if he can switch all his NZB downloading to after 9:30pm as multiple users on the street had rang and complained about their internet, and they had realised that he was hogging all the bandwidth available for the street in the comms cabinet. He framed that letter and hung it on his wall.
