V6 remote

Yet again my V6 remote is not working. This is the replacement for the previous one that stopped working. I am currently having to use 3 different remotes. One is an old Tivo remote which works great except I can't control the TV volume with it. The other 2 are the aforementioned V6 remotes that will and then won't control the volume meaning I have to constantly switch between the 2. Tried to call VM but can't afford to sit on the phone for hours waiting for them to answer, not convinced anyone actually works in their call centre.
