You do not have to upgrade (at this time) and I would look into the differences between the systems before deciding to as there are a lot of features missing compared to the V6\TiVo systems, a lot of the main features are also harder to navigate to (i.e. getting to recordings takes 7 presses instead of 1 I believe) which may not be ideal in your situation, it does have voice control but only if you use the supplied remote control and it requires a button to be pressed on the remote to activate it (which seems to defeat the point of it).
I think the 360 works with universal remotes, so I would assume it would work with the IR of the Broadlink.
