Virgin TV 360 upgrade suggestions

Just converted to TV 360 (thanks to 'press power button and minus button' tip) but like many disappointed not being able to use it like the previous TiVo system. There are good points like the voice option to change channel or rewind and one remote to turn TV and Virgin box on and off.

However I hope there will be regular upgrades in future and these would be my wishes:

1. The current Guide is weird and unusable for knowing what to record. The TiVo guide allowed you to display three columns: the left column showed your saved channels, the middle column showed the programme name by broadcast time (not half hour increments!) for clicked on channel, and the third column showed details of a programme clicked on. It was very easy and quick to scroll down and click on a programme to record it. It is easier and quicker to use another listings website on my phone than use the TV 360 guide.

2. The TiVo guide described above also showed the full date (day-month-year) that a programme was last shown. With so many repeats this is important for knowing if you have already watched that show. Please show the full date last shown.

3. Manual recording option. With TiVo you could specify a time and channel and just record part of a full programme. Example: you have to be at work but want to watch the football match later so just wish to start recording from kick-off time - not all the pundit chatter that started an hour earlier when the scheduled programme started.

4. Movie ratings. Again TiVo showed the star ratings for most movies on TV. So if a movie had 5 stars (*****) you knew it was probably worth watching. Could TV 360 include that please.

Thank you Virgin Media.

You are unlikely to get any manual recording options on the Horizon TV platform. This is VMs parent companies recording system, & is server based. As a result it runs directly from the EPG & not from the recording boxes timer. The system is now in its 5th generation in the rest of Europe, where it is a diskless system that records to the cloud. The mini & Stream boxes fitted are just a local interface with a connected TV. You can extend the recording time manually, but other than that there is no further flexibility.

Maybe  they could upgrade it with Tivo functions? That would make it the perfect product 🙂

They would of course have to pay Tivo for it, which is the bit they don't like.

Hey Ricardo31, thank you for reaching out and I am sorry to hear this.

We know the 360 is a big upgrade and a big difference, we hope you get use to in the near future.

We are also upgrading the box all the time to improve this.

Your feedback will be passed on.
