Subtitles on catch up

I use subtitles all the time when available. How can I tell whether a programmeI intend to record will have sub titles?

Secondly why can I not get subtitles on catch up?

Welcome to the community and thanks for taking the time to post here on the forums. I will answer the second question first. Subtitles are provided by the broadcaster of the channel and unfortunately they're not always provided by them for on demand or catch up services. 

To identify if a programme has subtitles, you can check if any show has subtitles via the menu strip at the bottom of the page, on the 360 box if you press the button with 3 dots in a line and then 'info', the show will then have an 'audio and subtitles' section, this will show if subtitles are available.
