Sky Sports UHD

Been having problems since yesterday with Sky Sports UHD channels keep pixellating. Sometimes, they'd kind of go all streaky. Was happening on and off all day watching the cricket (on Main Event UHD and Cricket UHD), then again on the Football UHD channel on the evening.  Didn't see it on any other channel.  Same thing happening this morning on Main Event UHD when watching the cricket. Switched to the HD version and the picture is fine.  Anybody else seeing this on V6 or is it just TV360?

    Hi Smevster 

    Sorry to see you are having pixelation issues on SKY Sports UHD channels.

    You've probably already done this, but make sure all your cabling is tight and free from any kinks, staples etc, especially the white coaxial cable as that can cause pixelation problems. Also check your HDMI cable is properly seated, and if po9ssible try another HDMI cable and/or socket.

    Also have you used the /check-services/   function? You can also a run a test on your equipment from there. If nothing is showing  you could also try the automated Service Status number  0800 561 0061.  This often gives details of more local issues down to postcode level.

    The only two full time Sky Sports UHD channels are Sky Sports Main Event UHD and Sky Sports F1 UHD.

    The other two Sky Sports UHD channels are part time and thus named Sky Sports UHD 1 and Sky Sports UHD 2 and when they are on they will broadcast a UHD version of any of the normal Sky Sports channels.  It looks like the Sky Sports UHD 2 channel has been broadcasting a simulcast of the Sky Sports Cricket channel (504) in UHD

    The channels are broadcast in muxes, rather like the way Freeview channels are set up, and so the Sky Sports UHD channels aren't all grouped together.

    Sky Sports UHD 2 (the one the Cricket UHD is currently on) is in the same mux as all of the FAST channels (no other normal broadcast channels are on this mux) but I would expect all of those FAST channels to be affected too if it's a signal issue.

    Sky Sports Main Event UHD is on the same mux as Blaze, Comedy Central Extra, That's Memories, Nick Spongebob, Nick+1, and Nick Jr PAW Patrol. Again if it was a signal issue I would expect those other channels on that mux to be affected.

    The EFL Football in UHD was broadcast on Sky Sports UHD 1. That channel is on the same mux as Movies 24, Movies 24+, Quest Red, Food Network, SONY MAX2, QVC Extra and QVC Beauty.  Again if it was a signal issue I would expect those other channels on that mux to be affected.

    Hi Smevster,

    Wife was watching the cricket on Sky Sports UHD 2 and I also noticed the streaky picture you mentioned, so I switched to Main Event UHD and did a 'watch from the start' and fast forwarded to the same part of the game and it was also on that channel.

      Thanks for the reply. So what does that mean? It's the Sky broadcast that's the issue? It's fine on Main Event HD. Do the HD channels carry the same broadcast as UHD, but get downgraded to HD or are they completely separate feeds?

        I believe it's one broadcast that is downscaled to HD.

        Can't see anyone complaining on the Sky community so maybe a Virgin problem.

        I'm in Stockport and get the Manchester feed.

    I am watching Forest against Newcastle on UHD and getting intermittent pixelation and streaking.

    I am in Birmingham.

        Problem is if you look away you might miss the problem. I think I noticed it more in the second half.

        Picture below is from my recordings but it you go to the guide and select watch from the start and fast forward it is the same so clearly a VM problem.

    Yep, still happening. Every time I've watched something on a UHD Sky Sports channel I get it just like the pic posted by roy247 above. Got fed up with it last weekend and watched the HD channels instead, which were fine. Put cricket on this afternoon when I got home from work and its still doing it. Like roy said its intermittent. Could go 20 or 30 mins when it doesn't happen, then it could happen 3 or 4 times in 10 minutes.

    Yeah it’s still doing it, briefly but it’s still present there while watching Man Utd-Liverpool match on both Sky Sports UHD Main Event and Sky Sports UHD Premier League. Changed between the two during the game and on both it’s the same issue. Like others said it does it rare but it does it.

    I’ve been noticing this is as well. It happened around 79 minutes and 11 seconds in the Manchester United vs Liverpool game today. It has happened throughout the game on Sky Sports main event UHD but that is one of the times I have noted down but there are plenty of others.

        It happens on any Sky Sports UHD channels, I have seen it on both F1 and the football today.

      Our technical support team have been investigating the issues with Sky Sports UHD and its pixelating. Our team have advised that we would need to arrange engineer visits for all the affected customers to make sure everything is working as it should be. Please could anyone experiencing the issues, send a private message over to me and we can arrange engineer visits.

        I sent you a private message then in that case but I think there will be many engineer visits. Hopefully they will also help with this but I doubt it as long as there are many of us with the same issues.

    Happening again tonight on main event UHD on the T20 Blast, but seems worse. Still intermittent, but the pixelation and picture break up staying on for maybe a couple of seconds, so really interfering with the viewing experience. Not going to keep paying for UHD channels for this shoddy service.

      All day today on Sky Sports Main Event UHD, Sky Sports News this morning, cricket and now tennis, so can't be blamed on live transmission interference.

    Been happening a lot on the cricket this morning, channel 534. It's not always so quick either anymore. A few times its lasted for a couple of seconds. Happened once just as a ball was bring bowled. Becoming very annoying.  Would be interested to know if anyone on the old v6 software was seeing this or if it's just Tv360?

      Yep, it's seems to be also happening on other channels too.

      I'm watching the America's Cup on TNT sports (yes I still have it, for now) and the pixelating is really bad.

      And like you said lasting for a good few seconds.

      Just out of interest Smevester where abouts are you, I am in Greater Manchester, HavencroftKev is about 180 miles south of me from previous posts and newapollo is in Teeside just trying to see how widespread the problem is and are some people just thinking it's a glitch on the outside broadcast, I have seen the problem on Sky Sports news channel 532 which would rule out any problems like that.

        I'm in Birmingham. Just had issue on TNT Sports 1 too. But slightly different. Picture froze briefly, sound dropped out then blocky pixelation. I've also seen issues where the picture seems to briefly jump. That's very quick, so easy to miss. But it happens a lot, on quite a lot of channels and also happened in the on demand menu! Think this 360 platform is very unstable.

      Yeah, happened a couple more times on TNT Sports 1 and it was just like it was on the Sky Sports UHD channels. 

      I only moved onto 360 in July and I must admit its only in the last few weeks it started happening. I wonder if they screwed something up in the last software update?

        I had it last weeekend on TNT Sports 1 HD as well while watching Juventus-Roma. I also noticed it on 4More HD on Saturday, same quick interrupting/pixelating image. So, the issue is wide spread. I’m in North Yorkshire. I checked the signal on the hub status page, no issues, everything looks normal. So, it’s a Virgin network issue as long as many people have it in different parts.
