Sky Sports + / Box Upgrade Query

jaycee666
Tuning in

I have a V6 box and a TiVo box which was disconnected by a Virgin engineer as it wasn’t in use.  I had the email concerning the inability to watch some sky Sports content so triggered the upgrade.  The box is coming on Tuesday.  From what I read on here and elsewhere I need two or more connected boxes to upgrade. Can I use the 360 box alone?

Hi @jaycee666

If you do receive a box then that should be to replace your current older tivo box as the they can't be migrated to 360's.

Was the tivo box removed from your package when it was disconnected by the enginee.?

Are you paying for the 2nd (tivo) box?  (It's generally an additional £10 per month for a second box unless it's part of VM's top bundle, ie Full House,  Ultimate Volt. Mega Volt)

Your V6 box should receive an over the air update to migrate it to the TV360 platform. You should be sent a 360 remote control which is used during this conversion process, and afterwards to control the 360 box.

Also be aware the box you are being sent may be a mini V360 box. Your existing V6 box will convert to a V360 master box, & this will be your storage point for recordings. The mini boxes do not have hard disks & stream recordings from the main box only. If they send you a V360 master box it will be the same size as your V6 & will record, if it’s half the size of the V6 it’s a mini.

I still have my Tivo box although it is not in use.  When negotiating a new contract with Virgin I have always raised the question of being charged for the Tivo box but have been told I am not being charged.  From what you say it would seem to be because I have the Full House or whatever it is now called.

If I am only going to use the one box can I instal the 360 or should I return it and stick with the V6?

Thanks for your help.

I should add that the virgin engineer actually disconnected the cable around the house to take the Tivo box out of use.  This was his solution to picture issues on the V6 which it did seem to cure.

Hi @jaycee666

Welcome back to the community forums

If you have a V6 this will be a software migration to upgrade the V6 to the 360 software, so you should receive a remote to complete this processes on your existing V6 set top box. If you do have an additional set top box or service ( this will be visible on your online account and contract), then you'll also receive a 360 mini. The 360 can be used alone and doesn't require an additional set top box to work.

Please let us know if you are having any further issues or have any questions at all. We'll be here to help on the community forums if needed

Am i right in assuming the mini box which I received needs a coaxial connection to function?

Hi jaycee666

All VM set top boxes with the exception of the Stream box require a coaxial connection for live TV.
