My elderly mother has a virgin media remote control. She is currently having problems turning the tv on and off. The light flashes when she presses the button but it won’t turn on/off. I have tried it and it works fine for me. She has very cold hands so was wondering if this could affect it. The remote works for all other things for her. It was working fine until the last few days. Any advice would be appreciated

Hi @Cliftops
Is your mother using the red power button on the top right of the remote, or the white TV button on the top left hand side of the remote to turn off the TV?
Pressing the white TV button once on the left hand side of the 360 remote should turn off the TV independently of the 360, and pressing that button twice should turn on the TV.
If 'One Power' is enabled in Settings > System and the 360 is connected by HDMI cable then that pressing the red power button on the top right of the 360 remote should turn off both the 360 and the TV (The TV needs HDMI-CEC turned on as well, some TV's have different names for this such as LG call it SIMPLINK, Phillips call it EasyLink, Samsung call it AnyNet+)
Have you tried changing batteries to see if that makes any difference?
Have you tried pairing the remote control again?
Using the 'Live TV' button? (the one on the right hand side directly below the red power/standby button) of the remote
Hold down the 'Live TV' and '0' button together for around 10/15 seconds. The Standby button should then start to flash on the remote followed by an onscreen message displaying 'Pairing successful - this remote will only work with this Virgin 360 box'.
You can also try the following:-
Put the box into 'Pairing Mode' by pressing the Standby/On button on the front of the 360 box for 10 seconds. Then using the remote control, press and hold the 'Live TV' button and the '0' button together for 10/15 seconds. And fingers crossed hopefully a message should appear on the screen confirming that pairing was successful
If she is OK using voice control ask her to try holding the voice button on the remote and saying, 'Switch Off'
This will turn off the 360 box. (sadly it won't turn off the TV as well)
EDITED to add - if your mother doesn't use the voice control it might be an idea trying a One For All remote
See <this thread> for ideas, one of which is the URC6820 which nappears to have larger buttons.
