Problems with 360 and keep/delete and fast forwarding

I am having real issues with recording on the new 360 box. I ask for something to be recorded and press the series link obviously. When I want to watch the programme it's really hit and miss as to whether it let's me fast forward through adverts etc. If I get the delete/keep box come up at top of screen, I know I'm doomed! If I then press keep and fast forward it throws me out and I have to start from the beginning again! Sometimes all is well and I can fast forward immediately.  However if I stop and then come back to it another time, again it's hit or miss if it says watch from where you left off or it's gone back the process I mentioned above! It also records the same programme every time it's on! Even after I've watched and deleted. If I've set it up to record as a series, when series 2 comes on, will it automatically record like my old V6 box did as that was an excellent function? The only thing good about 360 seems to be the talk function! Please can someone assist with regards to this frustrating keep/delete problem and not being able to fast forward? TIA

  • This can be turned off if you go to your saved recordings and select manage storage, put your pin number in and it's the first option you get.

Press Home > Recordings > Recorded > View All > Manage Storage > Enter your pin > Ask to delete after watching > Set to Off.

    When setting a series link select the Advanced settings and then select New Only, you usually have the following options;

This episode only, From this episode onwards, All from series xx only, All from series xx and onwards, New episodes only and All available episodes.

Thank you. I have done the storage settings but this still doesn't help with fast forwarding?

I also don't get all of the options you've mentioned in series links?

Press the red record button and then click on Advanced Options.

        advanced options

Depending upon the series/programs you can select  so you can fine tune the recordings  for that program/series going forward

        record options

To skip forwards/backwards 15 minutes in recordings - press MIC and say "go forward 15 minutes" or "go back 15 minutes". You can also say "fast forward 10 minutes" or whatever amount of time you want. To avoid adverts on streamed & on demand say "skip forward three minutes" or "fast forward 3 minutes"

The left and right arrow buttons either side of the OK button skip forward 30 seconds and back 10 seconds.

If you press the fast forward button above the '3' key, you have 4 speeds depending on how many times you press the button.

When fast forwarding press the TV button and that will switch off the fast forward arrows etc. For Stop press the back button or pause button, TV button also stops and puts you back to TV.

To play back in slow motion press pause then Fast Forward

  • I have the same problem since the latest upgrade. When you playback a recording it won’t let me forward even though it plays back ok if I left it to run … it seems the program is plying on screen from the start but the play bar on screen when you try to forward it is actually at the end, so when you hit the forward button it thinks you have watched it and asks if you want to keep or delete.

I found the only way round it is to literally rewind the whole program and then it will play from the start and allow forwarding. Which is totally counter productive and not how we intend to use the box!

it’s a very hard issue to explain but I’m experiencing the same and so can feel your pain! The old set up was a million times better!!

Have you tried a factory reset.

It's only a partial system reset and not a complete factory reset.

      You are given 2 options,

      Keep Recordings

      Format Disk

Choosing Keep Recordings, means you won't lose your recordings and any planned recordings or series links you've set up, but you will have to sign into your apps such as iPlayer, Prime, Netflix and ITVX again, also Match frame rate and Standby power consumption will go back to their default settings if you have changed them.

If the factory reset doesn't work then you might have a faulty box.
