We updated our box about a month ago.
Words can't explain how sad I am with this. The user interface has gone backwards 10 years in usability.
Let me make this very clear now, the voice command is not an option. 100% not an option. Do not suggest "press the voice button and say x"
When I turn the box on, we sit at a black screen with a Virgin logo in for ~30s why does it now take so long to turn on? Pre update it was near instant.
Navigating the menu now requires 10s more button presses. I used to be able to turn the tv on and get from the kids programs that were on that morning to the football in 10 or so seconds, now repeatedly pressing the down arrow to get to sports (you can't even press up from the top option to get to the bottom one) is incredibly clunky.
My young children (4yo) and elderly parents can't use the system as the remote and menu is just too complicated now. We can't use the old remote because when we did the update the box died so an engineer wired in a new box and gave is a new remote.
I could go on with reasons but the question is, is there a way of getting a box with the old remote and old software version?
This update is a big downgrade.

Go to settings and set the box to fast start or active start.

You can press the TV button which will take you back to the last channel watched, or press the up and down arrows to move up and down the TV guide a page at a time. You can also just press 500 which will take you to the nearest sports channel. You can also just press 1 when looking at the TV guide which will take you to the top.

When searching on the EPG you can also press the Home button, then press right and it takes you to the navigation section of the guide with All Channels highlighted. If you then click on All Channels it brings up a category list Documentaries, Entertainment, International, Kids etc so you can go straight to that section.
