Can’t Stream recordings to Apple TV

Hi, I really like the new Apple TV TV go app but unlike the app I have installed on my iPhone and iPad I am unable to play anything from my 360 box.
I can see my recordings in the Saved area within the app but if I try to watch any of them, I just get the option to ‘Edit Recording’. Is this intentional? Is there a setting I’ve missed? Will this change in the future? Seems pretty disappointing to release an app and block half of its functionality!!

    Hi OfRedEarth

The info below is from <this linked post> by forum staff

    /Apple-TV-app-on-TV360-needs-an-update/

The Apple TV+ App on our 360 box is a stripped down version due to licensing agreements.

As much as we don't want to blame rival companies, it's basically the agreement we have to be allowed to supply this App.

VM are restricted by TV agreements that only allow viewing of recordings at the address the account is held. To allow the app to do this would therefore create a whopping great backdoor to viewing outside the home.

  • I have just installed the TV Go app on my AppleTV 4K, so I can test this for you.

I get the same problem as you. Based on the app store rating (2 stars) this is just a gimmick app. A cr-app so to speak.

Firstly, not all shows are even available on the Android app. For example Air Crash Investigation is not playable on my OnePlus phone, but The Crystal Maze is playable.

On the Apple TV, absolutely nothing is playable! Everything says "This content cannot be played on this device".

All you get on the Apple TV is a small selection of HEAVILY compressed live tv channels which look about 10 times worse than the original broadcast signal via the 360 Box. Pointless.

Therefore the TV Go app on the VM box is an absolutely pointless waste of money. Can't believe VM are using OUR money to produce terrible apps with no functionality and WORSE than broadcast quality.

    Unintalled straight away.

    RIP Broadcast TV

      On our wavelength

It's better than what there was before i.e. no app at all.  There are a few channels available on the app which aren't available to stream legally via any other app e.g. +1 channels, E4 Extra, That's TV

Licensing agreements will restrict what content is available.  Hopefully it will improve over time.

Thank you for posting this jtready and you re correct.

It all comes down to licensing, in the near future this may change.
