I have a stream box which has no ability to record so everything has to be watched on catchup. Is it possible to add some kind of recording facility? Live a standalone Humax or Freeview box as Virgin do not seem able to do this despite saying my stream box would be able to!

Who told you it could record stuff? Was it possibly offshore customer services? You can exercise your 14 day cooling off period (if still applicable). I'd also raise a formal written complaint about the cynical misselling. The link is below (as is the link for getting the call recording).

Thank you so much for your reply. 14 day period expired a month ago. My fault as I had not thought recording stuff would be quite so important. Is it possible to add a Humax or freeview box to do this?

Yup but not to record from the Stream box - just your aerial. See https://www.cordbusters.co.uk/

VM Stream is fundamentally a non-recording product.

Unless you're in a new XGS-PON area, TV360 is VM's current recording TV platform.

Hi @clearbluesky

Sorry that the recording functions question wasn't picked up correctly in your original thread <here>   where you stated, 'now Virgin can connect us to full fibre',  as you should have been informed that recording boxes aren't available in full fibre areas.  Instead we all extolled the virtues of the TV360 box which isn't compatable with the full fibre network.

VM's full fibre (XGS-PON) network isn't compatable with the older coax cable network that carries the TV signal over cable. On the full fibre network the TV signal is provided over the internet so TV customers are provided with the Stream (Flex) TV set top box which is IP based.

A lot of the live programs are also available via the apps and catch up services.

The Manhattan t4r boxes are capable of recording the freeview channels obtained via a terrestrial aerial (see /manhattan-t4-r-review-the-peak-of-freeview-recording/ ) however those boxes aren't able to record the channels provided via the stream box.
