Dave HD on Stream

According to the Virgin Media website and Channel Guide for Stream, the only way to watch Dave HD is to subscribe to the Essential Entertainment pack:

Is that really the case?

It seems crazy that Virgin Media would expect people to pay for this Freeview channel.

No, it's an error. All VM marketing has always stated that Dave HD is in the Essential Entertainment package, but it's wrong. It's available in HD to everyone.

The free package carries HD channels as standard wherever Virgin has access to them. The only exceptions are Sky Arts and Sky News, which are only available in SD in the free pack.

Dave HD isn't available on freeview. The Dave channel on freeview is the SD version.

There are only up to 20 HD channels available on freeview if you count the regional variations of the 5 main PSB's for the home countries.  see <here>

as andyland said, Dave is HD on Stream as is Drama - regardless of whether you take Entertainment subscription.

Thanks @andyland for confirming it is a mistake on VM's part, and Dave HD is available to all on Stream.

Anyone from VM here and can get that corrected?

Hi VMViewer,

Thank you for your post. I have checked both the freeview website and our own website and it does advise that the channel Dave HD would not be free under freeview channels.

It is a part of the Essential entertainment package.

I don't currently have an Entertainment subscription as in notice period, but I have Dave HD, Watch HD, Drama HD, Yesterday HD, Sky Mix HD all free and in HD. The guide is marked as that for each, and picture looks much better than a normal SD channel would. Non HD channels are not labelled as "HD" on VM Stream.
