Contract renewal 30% increase - is that right?

My 18 month package is coming to an end.  I phoned up and was told the increase was approx £23 per month.  That's a 30% increase.  Is that right?

Update:  I managed to get a reasonable deal thanks to the Forum Team.  They also sent out an engineer.  Kudos from me.

Quite possibly. Look back at your contract info in 'My VM' and see if you can find what discounts had been applied in your minimum term.

You can renew for a new minimum term and you should get a discounted price again, although many recent topics on here suggest VM is setting high initial renewal offers so be prepared to haggle if you intend to stay with VM.

Hi there @EKW

Thank you so much for your post and welcome to the community forums, it's great to have you here.

I am so sorry that your contract is coming to an end, this would mean any previously agreed discounts would also be ending and causing a price increase.

You can reach out to our teams on 0345 454 1111 or you can pop a WhatsApp message across to 07305 327 112 and our team will be happy to look at arranging a new package deal for you or discuss a cancellation without charge as you will be out of contract.

The 30% increase is after I phoned that. number.  Prior to that it was 37%

Well that's the point isn't it.  Why would I renew my contract when I can get a better deal elsewhere.  I guess the next step is to let the contract run out and explore other options.

Hi @EKW,

We always have multiple different offers available and these are subject to change, meaning a deal available one day may no longer be available the next and vice versa.

Did you discuss any other offers with the team which you might prefer?

Thanks,

The contract doesn't run out. Once the minimum discounted period ends the payments revert to the full price of the package.. This continues until you either negotiate a new deal/contract, or give 30 days notice to end the account.

Hi @EKW

Did you manage to negotiate a new deal or give 30 days notice in the event of not being satisfied with our offers? If you need us to we can take a look at your account on your behalf.

I was only offered one option and was told that was the cheapest one.   I even asked for different options (eg remove TV extra packages and broadband) but it was really difficult.

Thanks.  That's my current plan.  Not renewing will cost me just £4 per month more, which in my opinion would be easily recouped if I shopped around.
