Landline for alarm once copper is switched off

Hi we have VM with a landline that works for our home phone and house alarm. Can you tell me will the phone and alarm be rendered as useless when the copper network gets switched off? The alarm rings out to alert us of any issues

thanks

  • Hi Houseofzane,

Thanks for your post and welcome to our community.

Most phone handsets are compatible with the fibre phone service.

If you have connected devices (including healthcare alarms or telecare devices) that use your phone line, you’ll need to check with your device provider to make sure they’re compatible with our fibre network phone line. We recommend your devices have their own battery and network backup service.

There is more information on the phone switch over here

If you have any further questions, please pop back to us and we'd be happy to help.

Your probably best to upgrade your alarm module so it either connects to wifi or a mobile network

VM should be able to wire the hub to your alarm system and phone with an RJ11 cable and splitter. If it dosn't work, then as advised switch to a mobile system.
