Frequent high latency spikes

Hello, I've been having latency issues with my Virgin connection since moving in to my new place but only just set up BQM to actually track the issue. The graph looks fine a bit of the time but regularly goes into a state like this were my ping will skyrocket into the hundreds momentarily (less than ideal for games obviously).

Here's a BMQ graph from just now, you can see it was fine overnight but is currently in the state of spiky looking latency measurements.

and here's one from the other night a bit after I set up the monitor showing it happening in the evening.

I'm using a Hub 5 in modem mode in tandem with an ASUS TUF Gaming AX3000 V2 router, though the issues were present long before the ASUS router came in to the equation. Any help appreciated, let me know if you need some numbers from the router web ui

Did some science this weekend, turns out this issue was with the ASUS router. Have reset it and all seems good now - nothing to see here

Bit more info, here's a spike being captured by a call of 'ping rdng-cmts-25-pc1-650.network.virginmedia.net /t' (my local server from what traceroutes tell me), higher than BQM captures and significant enough to taint a couple of packets worth of ping measurements. Ping times are consistent before and after this at between 9-12ms.

Another BQM graph capturing just after it was set up to the next 24 hours
