I have two virgin email accounts. The first is a virgin.net account that I have had since 1997. The other is a virginmedia.com account that I got when I signed up for broadband.
Today I got an email to my virgin.net account saying they are cancelling my virgin media email. Which account are they talking about? Are they talking about both? There are no contact details in the email.
I don't use the virginmedia account but the .net is my main account and has been for nearly thirty years. I can't lose that.
"As you no longer have Virgin Media services, your Virgin Media email address will become inactive. We’ll close your Virgin Media email account in 30 days, which means you won’t be able to access your inbox after that and contents of your account will be removed and permanently deleted."

I got the exact same email and have the exact same problem - I pay virginmedia for broadband on an old blueyonder account, but the virgin.net email has been with me since 1994

So are you a Virgin customer or only using the email account?

Was a virgin customer but still using the .net account. I no longer use the virginmedia.com account.

Have you checked the authenticity of these emails?
Have not previously read any reports of VM sending legit emails like this but there are routine spam messages like this which go out trying to steal login credentials. Fake message examples are routinely posted at the top of the security forum.
What is the actual email address which sent the message?

There is no return email address, so a no reply email though the sender was em.virginmedia.com. Header analysis shows it came from Germany. I have no idea where virginmedia is based.

The fact there is no sender address showing casts doubt on the authenticity of the email. Genuine VM messages do show as coming from a genuine VM domain.
That said, and putting the message aside for a moment, VM is currently running a very active programme of deleting old email addresses that are no longer linked to an active VM broadband subscription. This has typically been happening without warning.
So if you are using an old virgin.net email address and it is not linked to an active VM broadband account you should get busy moving all your services and accounts to a new third party email address as VM may delete your email address without warning.

I have two other virgin.net email addresses (you were allowed to set up mutliple emails when I first joined in '97) these have not received the same mail.

If you don't have a VM broadband account, those email addresses will be closed down sooner or later. You need to move them.

I have had them for thirty years, how much later is later?
