Email Outlook Express

Tuning in

Hi,

I have been using Outlook Express on Windows XP to recieve my emails. On the 16th April 2024 I was unable to receive them on any of my accounts. Have the settings changed?

The error is

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: '', Server: 'pop3.virginmedia.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

Any help would be appreciated please. Thanks

I certainly would not be using Outlook Express any more, or Outlook 2007.  Old software like this is no longer being updated by Microsoft, and therefore should be regarded as a security risk.  If you don't want to pay for an upgrade then consider using Mozilla Thunderbird instead.

However based on some of the posts I've read, it looks as if VM my have had a problem with the virginmedia.com pop3, map and smtp servers, which has since been corrected.

Hi @User247,

Thank you for your post and welcome back to our community forums. We're here to help.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having some trouble with your email service and account. Are you having any trouble accessing it via the webmail platform on our website, or is it only via Outlook?

Thanks,
