No, you cannot download updates as they are provisioned by VM automatically.
You could factory reset the box and it should reset everything. You must have an active VM BB connection for factory reset to work (i.e. don't do this AFTER a disconnection date).
Unplug the power cable from the back of the Stream box and then hold the power button on the front of the box while plugging the power cable back in. Keep the power button pressed while doing this.
When the multi language "Welcome" screen appears for 5 seconds and then let go of power button.
A menu will appear. Now, using the power button, tap the reset option (hard or soft) you prefer. I would try the soft reset option first, and if that fails try the hard reset.
Then hold the power button again for 5 seconds on the one selected option to reset it.
The box should hopefully update within 24 hours automatically assuming it is left powered ON and is connected to a VM Broadband connection that is working.
