Sky sports Formula 1 & BT Sports

Can anyone confirm that Virgin TV will have the same contracts in 2019 as they do now regarding showing, Sky Formula 1 & BT Sport MotoGP.

ie full coverage, practice, qualifying and race, plus extras.

Its just that two different Sky Engineers have said Virgin are losing these contracts at the end of 2018.

I would just like someone from Virgin to confirm these rumors are NOT true.

Re: Sky sports Formula 1 & BT Sports

There is no change, in fact there is a new agreement with BT:

There won't be contracts regarding content. They have contracts for providing channels, and the channels have contracts for what content they broadcast.

Sky will still have a contract for showing F1 next year (they actually have an exclusive contract - not sure what happens to any free-to-air portion with highlights).

BT Sport has extended their contract with MotoGP.

Whether Virgin will have the same contracts for carrying these channels next year - who knows? They don't seem to like paying for the channels they carry...

Re: Sky sports Formula 1 & BT Sports

Hi, I'm a Virgin Media customer and keen F1 viewer having raced single-seaters in a former life.  Is it true that in 2019 I can watch F1 on Virgin but I can't record it to watch later?

Sky Sports F1 is a live TV channel and can be recorded.

The following Wikipedia link may be helpful in identifying which channels have contracts to show which sports...

Re: Sky sports Formula 1 & BT Sports

If u do a bit of research you will find out that John malone chairman of virgin media parent company liberty global is one of the largest shareholder of f1, so a doubt virgin will loose the rights to show f1
