Why does the TIVO 6 box have to be connected to the hub?

Why does the TIVO 6 box have to be connected to the hub either via an ethernet cable or wireless?

Re: Why does the TIVO 6 box have to be connected to the hub?

Thank you Ernie_C,

At present, my TIVO 6 and hub are connected via WiFi. Would there be any benefit to hardwire the 2 together. They are in different rooms and to run a cat 5 cable would be difficult but not impossible?

If everything is working OK on wifi, there's no real need to make a direct connection.

You can see the speed of the wifi connection and a percentage idea of the quality by navigating to:

Home > Help & Settings > Settings > Network > View Network Status

This will also show which SSID you are connected to and which wifi band (assuming you are not a Hub 3.0 user with a single SSID).
