New V6 box arrives, follow the installation guide etc etc, and all is fine and working. My set up is Hdmi from box to AV amp then Hdmi from amp to tv.
Please note this set up has been fault free for 3 years with my old tivo unit.
Switched amp from tv to blu ray to watch something. Then when i switched back to tv its picking up a sound signal but no picture!
I tired for hours swapping cables and experimenting. If i plugged the Hmdi direct from V6 to tv it works fine, but as soon as it tries to go through the amp ( Pioneer VSX921) it just wont display the picture.
I got totally fed up and did a wipe and reinstall of the V6 box. Hey presto its working again! Until.. you’ve guessed it, i change input on the amp and then when I switch back to tv there is once again no picture.
‘It must be a problem with your amp’ i hear you all say, but why would it work after doing a wipe on the V6, and why did work fine with the Tivo? The set up is exactly the same.
Is there any known issues with these V6 boxes?
Thinking i have two choices: run hdmi staright to tv and use seperate cable from tv to amp for sound. Or just stick the V6 in the bedroom as the second box and get the trusty Tivo back in the lounge.
Dont know if this helps but since the 4k channel and bt sport 4k channel I have had to run hdmi cable to tv and then a hdmi cable from the tv hdmi arc socket to the reciever for sound, the reason I had to go this way was my reciever is getting on in years and does not pass through 4k to the tv
I understand the reasons you are stating BUT... Why would it work initially? Ie, if I never changed the input on the amp again and it permanently stayed on TV, then it will continue to output both sound and pictures.
Why is the issue only when trying to go back to the input?
@rysmee wrote: But I guess the simple answer is to switch the V6 into the bedroom and have the old Tivo as the main unit. (Can I do it that way?!) I don't really have the need to record 6 things at once anyway!
You could, or connect the TV to the V6 by HDMI and the amp to the V6 by TOSLINK (a better solution if you mostly watch TV in the room it's currently in).
