Re: What happened to the blue button?

Its a regional thing, as with ITV, the BBC has regional differences to its channels.
If you check out channels 861, 862, 863, 864 you may notice the regional variations of BBC1, London, Scotland, unnamed. and Wales.
It is most noticeable if you try to watch the local news on either ITV or BBC via a HD channel, if you are not in the right region you will either get a message or the local news from the wrong area.

Thanks, I get that. But I used to be able to press the blue button on 102 and 103 and now I can’t. Is that the case for all Scottish viewers or just me?

Re: What happened to the blue button?

According to the Virgin channels guide for Scotland
Channel 101 BBC One HD (Scotland, NI, Wales) - BBC One SD (England)
Channel 102 BBC Two HD (England, Wales, NI) - BBC Two SD (Scotland)
Channel 103 STV HD Made up of 4 STV regional stations.

It appears that there is no HD version of BBC2 available for Scotland, it is likely a contractual thing between the BBC and Virgin.

The above does explain why there is no blue button available, as in Scotland Channel 103 is HD and BBC2 HD is not available.

Try rebooting your box. That should bring the blue button option back.

Just tried that but no change. I can see the blue button option on channels 105, 106, 107 but not on 102, 103 or 104.

102 is BBC2 HD now unless you are in Scotland. If you are in Scotland, STV HD is now on 103. These should be the only exceptions.

I am in Scotland, why the difference in Scotland? 103 is definitely not in HD in my case.

STV HD should shortly be a fully regional service, so you should have your local region on BOTH 103 & 113. A channel swap is scheduled for this month (I'm not in Scotland so I can't tell if its happened yet).

BBC2 Scotland no longer exists. You currently get BBC2 England on 102, with HD on 162 but this will shortly be replaced when the new BBC Scotland channel launches on 24th February.

Re: What happened to the blue button?

I can confirm that STV HD is still on 113 in Scotland.

I believe there was an attempt to change it to 103 earlier this week which must have failed. I believe this because 113 was removed from my Favourites, usually caused by a channel number disappearing.

Re: What happened to the blue button?

I’m sorry, @nodrogd , but this is not currently correct:

“BBC2 Scotland no longer exists. You currently get BBC2 England on 102, with HD on 162 but this will shortly be replaced when the new BBC Scotland channel launches on 24th February.

BBC2 Scotland is still showing on channel 102 in SD and channel 162 is the HD version from England. First Ministers Question time showing on 102 and Politics Live On 162.

Re: What happened to the blue button?

As I say, I don't have the benefit of being in Scotland, but the plans are in place for this month:

"In Scotland, BBC Two Scotland will close in mid-February, shortly before the launch of the new BBC Scotland TV channel on Sunday 24th February 2019. As a result, viewers in Scotland will see the current BBC Two Scotland service replaced by the main network version form London at that point. Therefore, there will be no BBC Two Scotland HD channel.."

Re: What happened to the blue button?

My interpretation of that is that, on the 24th or a little before, 102 will become the BBC2 English variant and the new BBC Scotland channel will be on 162 in HD.

Lets hope so. Then I will only have to worry about why I don’t have a blue button for channels 103 and 104. Ernie_C - do you have that option in Scotland?

Re: What happened to the blue button?

No, there’s no blue button on either 103 or 104 in Scotland.

For me, it’s a non-feature anyway.
